I serve as a Peace Corps volunteer in Jamaica.
Jamaica is a developing country located in the Caribbean. Despite its high crime, unemployment and poverty rates, Jamaica is a country rich in culture with a loud global voice. Much more than beaches and resorts, the Jamaica I have come to know and love has enough riddim, soul and pride to put other countries to shame.
See how Jamaica measures up to the UN’s Millennium Development Goals here. The country currently has a Human Development Index of .73, the per capita income is $7,074 and the poverty rate is 43.1%.
