On April 9th, President Barack Obama came to Jamaica for a quick working visit. This occasion was historic–Obama is the second-ever sitting US President to visit Jamaica and his visit fell 33 years after Ronald Reagan’s in 1982. He met with the Jamaican government to discuss security and trade, held a youth Town Hall discussion at the University of the West Indies, visited the Bob Marley Museum and did a meet-and-greet event with the US Embassy.
Jamaicans love a good laugh and in general have a great sense of admiration for Obama. So naturally, the Jamaican interwebz went crazy for his visit. Here are some of my favorites:
The Peace Corps isn’t technically part of the Embassy, but we were lucky enough (ok- our Country Director advocated for us hard enough) to be invited to the small event! Many of us actually got to shake his hand.
Here are some photos that I snapped during the meet-and-greet:
As I was perusing the internet for this post, I discovered that the Huffington Post had the same brilliant idea of showcasing how Jamaica dweet. Check out their hilarious post here.
